The schools taking part in I’m an Engineer
I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here returns for a third time this year! Between the 9th and 20th of November, students at 40 schools across the UK, from Thurso to Whitstable, will be interacting with the 10 engineers in the Energy and Production Zones.
These engineers will be competing for the school students’ votes in two weeks of fast-paced live chats and probing questions on everything from renewable energy, to factory robots, to lasers, to baked beans.

I help keep Britain’s lights on by fixing power stations and making plans for a clean energy future in the UK
Sandra Fayemiwo | Aecom
I work involves extra high voltage in excesses of 400,00volts and manage to keep the lights in your house ON all year round.
Dona Galhena | University of Cambridge
My research will enable you to charge your cell phone in just a few seconds and wear it on your wrist, fuel up your electric car in a few minutes while you are driving it.
Liena Vilde | National Grid
I work on making sure everyone will have a safe and reliable electricity supply in the future.
Steven Wray | Culham Centre for Fusion Energy
I investigate and fix problems with really BIG electrical equipment which powers a nuclear fusion reactor.

I help to get Beans in cans and Ketchup in bottles.
Chris Francis | Spectrum Technologies PLC
I make machines that use lasers to mark wire which is used inside aeroplanes.
Lydia James | Alcoa Howmet Exeter Castings
I’m an apprentice manufacturing engineer at an investment casting factory, I program robots to make component parts destined for jet engines and industrial gas turbine engines.
Holly Miller | Jaguar Land Rover
I write the processes that tell people, on the production line, how to put parts onto the different engines before they are ready to go into cars.
Michael Sulu | UCL
I grow lots of cells and then make each individual cell into a factory to make things like drugs or fuels.
