About Me:
I live in Bristol with other apprentices, studying aerospace engineering (If this counts as being a scientist but I’ll leave that up to you!). I like volunteering, hiking and getting out of the house!
-
My pronouns are:
he/him
-
My Work:
I am an engineer within an aerospace and defence consultancy firm. As such I can work on anything from anything from electric planes, to tanks, to submarines and satellites.
-
My Typical Day:
I usually work from home (not possible for many true scientists) and start work at around 8 by checking my emails. I make a start on the client work which can be anything from safety cases to site visits then have lunch with housemates. In the afternoon it’s back to the laptop to do more work on some interesting technology until about 4 when I finish for a walk!
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
If I were to win the £500 prize money I would go back to colleagues I work with for the Royal Aeronautical Society to ask how we can best use this funding, this will likely go into funding an event for young persons, putting on team building events in school through STEM, or working with the local university to host multiple events for schools over the summer to get them into aerospace engineering by showing them the huge wind tunnel (used for testing aerodynamics) and the flight simulators we have!
-
Education:
I went to a small primary school in North Wales before moving to a larger catholic high school. Then attended my local sixth form college before heading off to Bristol to attend the University of the West of England.

My Interview
-
What did you want to be after you left school?
I always knew I wanted to be an engineer but wasn't sure in which area.
Were you ever in trouble at school?
Sometimes, but mainly for messing with friends when I probably should be paying attention.
If you weren't doing this job, what would you choose instead?
I think being a pilot would be really cool, or something in finance to do with money..
Who is your favourite singer or band?
Cage the Elephant or Alt-J "Indie Rock" is the general genre.
What's your favourite food?
Pizza! 🍕
If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
To understand the innermost workings of all things aerospace, to have unlimited funds to travel the world when not working, to have my own private chef
Tell us a joke.
What did the wind tunnel say to the aerospace engineer? I'm a big fan!
