techUK supports I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here.
“tech UK is the UK’s technology trade association. We champion technology’s role in preparing and empowering the UK for what comes next, delivering a better future for people, society, the economy and the planet.”
Throughout November 2021, I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here will connect your students to the engineers responsible for building, improving, and maintaining the systems that keep us connected with the rest of the world.
In the Invisible Internet Zone, students will meet the engineers responsible for the UK’s internet infrastructure – the hardware and systems that enable us to be online.

I’m an Engineer is a safe and secure online platform.
It’s quick and easy to set up, and text-based – no audio or video required.
Students get to:
- Ask working engineers their questions
- Connect with them through live text-based Chats
- Vote for their favourite to win £500!
It’s accessible from the classroom or home and super-flexible – you book chats at times that suit you and your classes.
The Invisible Internet Zone is funded by a conglomeration of internet companies, led by techUK. Thanks to them and our other funders, this activity is completely free for UK state-maintained schools.
